SaltWater Brewery signs with Brown Distributing

May 2, 2014 | Category: Brewery Announcement

SaltWater Brewery of Delray Beach, Florida has officially signed on with Brown Distributing Company for distribution in South Florida.

SaltWater Brewery is a craft brewery started in 2013 by childhood friends Chris Gove, Bo Eaton, Peter Agardy and Dustin Jeffers. Their facility is located right off of I-95 on Atlantic Avenue in an old Delray landmark, a barn built in 1952. They feature an immaculately designed tasting room showcasing reclaimed Dade County Pine salvaged from the original second floor, picnic tables fabricated from the original barn doors and, of course, a saltwater fish tank. Once selling all of the feed and seed for Delray farmers, this historic building has gone “grain-to-grain” having already produced 17 different beers in their first four months of operation.

Brewmaster, Bill Taylor, comes from Neptune’s Brewery in Montana and has 18 years of commercial brewing experience. With the support of their Head Brewer Dustin Jeffers their focus is creating craft beers infused with South Florida’s unique culture. They will initially offer 3 year-round beers for distribution: South End Session Ale – an extra pale ale, light and sessionable, clocking in at 4.5% ABV, Bone-a-fide Blonde – a Belgian Blonde Ale featuring an unfiltered slightly sweet body and a spicy Belgian finish at 6.5% ABV and Screaming Reels IPA – an American IPA which is light amber in color with a floral citrusy aroma and a dry, piney hop finish touting a 7.5% ABV and 65 IBUs. A larger variety, including some more experimental beers, will be available at the tasting room with regular seasonal releases to be distributed as well. They have even started a barrel-aging program, which will include high gravity beers and sours.

With a 20bbl brewhouse, SaltWater is planning on producing 1,500 barrels of beer in the first year. Initially offering their products in keg only (and growlers filled at their tasting room), they will focus their attention on Delray Beach and the surrounding areas.

“This brewery is all about local.” Their artist, Peter Agardy, brings his unique feel to everything they do. “As a 4th generation Floridian he exemplified everything local that we stand for. He lives the lifestyle we like to promote.  He’s a waterman. He cares a lot about the land and uses real life experiences for his artwork” explains Founder, Chris Gove. This mantra is reflected in their beers where they offer a variety of series based on the coastline of Florida. “Our series are based on coastal, reef and off-shore zones. Our whole mission is to educate people. Our passion married the ocean and craft beer.” They will also be using their beer as a platform to raise awareness and money for a handful of water based charities like the Coastal Conservation Association, Surf Rider Foundation and The Ocean Foundation.
